Volvo CE to host Operators Club at Hillhead 2016

Company will use show to find overall winner and runner-up to represent Great Britain in European finals

VOLVO Construction Equipment will be using the three days of Hillhead 2016 to find an overall winner and runner-up to represent Great Britain in the Operators Club finals that will take place in France later this year.

Since the Operators Club was launched in Great Britain at Plantworx 2013, the GB club has attracted close to 2,600 active members. ‘Our target is to sign-up member number 3,000 at this year’s Hillhead,’ commented Michele Russell, the GB club’s administrator.

‘The lucky signee will receive a Lego Technic model as well as a whole bunch of goodies. Existing members will also receive a special gift if they turn up at the stand and we are hoping for a high standard of skills and expertise with the challenges we have planned this year,’ she continued.

The three-station competition will involve challenges on two Volvo compact excavators as well as operators using their skills on a Volvo articulated hauler simulator. The overall winner and runner-up will qualify to represent Great Britain in the European finals taking place in early October in Belley, France (Volvo’s compact equipment manufacturing facility).

Both existing and new members will be welcomed on to the stand to meet, have a chat and enjoy some complimentary hospitality. The Club is open to all operators irrespective of whether they operate a Volvo or any other make of machine.

Signing up for membership is easy via a simple online registration form or at the Hillhead show itself. On joining, club members will receive a unique membership card entitling them to a 10% discount off all Volvo merchandise, whether purchased online or in the Volvo shop at Hillhead. They will also receive a Volvo Operators Club branded baseball cap, regular e-letters and the opportunity to sign-up for the three-station challenge at Hillhead and ultimately represent GB in the grand European finals later this year.

The Volvo Operators Club is open to all, however the criteria to take part in the Operator Challenge requires individuals to bring along evidence that they have the proper operator accreditation, ie a valid CPCS licence. They will need to be 18 years or over in age and reside in mainland GB. Contestants taking part at Hillhead will also have to undergo a breathalyser test before they will be allowed to take part.
