Caterpillar unveil updated 992K wheel loader
Latest Cat machine designed to offer improved operating efficiency and fuel efficiency
CATERPILLAR have launched a newer version of their 992K wheel loader model, which now incorporates an economy mode to deliver reduced fuel costs and increased efficiency.
With a new on-demand throttle arrangement, the wheel loader automatically manages engine speed, combining the efficiency of a manual throttle with ergonomic throttle lock operation.
Caterpillar have also undertaken performance studies on the updated machine and found the current 992K reduces fuel consumption by as much as 21% compared with the previous model series.
Specially designed to deliver efficient three-pass loading of a Cat 775 dumptruck and four-pass loading of a Cat 777 truck, the 992K now offers Cat Production Measurement (CPM), an advanced payload weight measuring system. CPM promotes cost-effective hauling by helping loader operators minimize truck under-loading and overloading.
Several new features of the updated 992K, such as turn signals and hazard lights, a bi-directional emergency gate, wheel chocks and mid-rails, have enhanced operating safety.
New performance-enhancing features have also been added to boost uptime and productivity. Pump efficiency monitoring, for example, improves hydraulic system responsiveness, improved fluid filtration boosts reliability, and coolant loss monitoring increases uptime. Cat Advansys GET adapters have also been included to maximize loader uptime by offering fast, hammerless installation and the removal of ground-engaging tools.
The updated 992K wheel loader is powered by a Tier 4/Stage IV C32 ACERT engine (801hp) but, depending on regional demands, can be configured to meet Tier 2/Stage IIA emission regulations.
For ease of maintenance, the machine features centralized service and ground-level access points, speeding up servicing and reducing the likelihood of falls. The 992K also comes with Cat’s Vital Information Management System (VIMS) which monitors machine health and provides operators, service personnel and fleet managers operating information across a wide range of critical loader functions.
